Adidas back into cycling

Adidas is getting back into cycling with a pair of lace up shoes. It's really funny to me seeing all the lace up shoes available now. I used to be told all the time, no one wants shoes with laces. It's dangerous. Laces are stupid. And now you have Bont, Adidas, Vittoria, Gaerne, Shimano, Quoc Pham, Bontrager, Giro, Specialized and others offering lace up shoes.

I used to love wearing my 1976 shoes. I would wear them all day at shoes. They were super comfortable. I wore them for 4 days straight for a BRAIN Dealer Tour in NYC and it was crazy hot that week. They were wonderful. It's funny cause on that ride, the Giro guys were trying prototypes of their shoes and I was trying a prototype of our helmet. They asked me, what make us think we can make helmets? I said what makes you think you can make shoes? He shot back with, we hired some great shoe designers. I sniped back, we hired some great helmet designers.

Marketspeak

Quote:
“improve accessibility to the sport and allow more athletes to clip in with the latest technology”. The brand says the high performance footwear is for the new generation of cyclists with “a desire for adventure, improved health, and the ability to move in and out of their cities in a sustainable and flexible way”...

... empower more people to clip in and ride...

...a blank canvas to combine the shoe with various outfits
This about a three-bolt road shoe??

Marketspeak aside, I could be interested in a two bolt version of these.

Of the old-style shoes with slotted cleats that I've worn, the most comfortable by far were the Eddy Merckx Adidas.

Loved me some Brennero's back in the mid 90's, Zabel wore them when he won several of his umpteen MSR's. Laces underneath the aero and velcro cover:

pair for sale over on the bay right now:

As a fan of older Adidas shoes as well as current Mavic's, and knowing that they were both under the same AMER umbrella for many years, have to wonder if current Mavic's are essentially rebranded and updated Adidas, because Mavic didn't come along into the shoe business until Adidas were getting out of cycling? Now that Mavic are going back to their wheel "roots", and now we have Adidas back into cycling......coincidence?

Can I get a pair in pink? It only seems right.

(I have a pair of 1976s to go with my Tommasini. Despite being a bit on the big side, I love them. Very comfortable)

When I ran them I used to do customs all the time including different shoe lengths for each foot and different widths. The person in charge won't do that now.

I had a few of their bibs back in the day. They were some of the better bibs that I have used even to this day.

The 3-stripes has always been a solid bit of sport graphic design, to my eye.

Same! I still have a couple of pairs of heavy winter gear items from Adidas. Stored nicely in sealed bags, hopefully never needed to be worn again....

those new addidas look great
boy they look really similar in shape to Giro or something... are they being made for Addidas, like Rapha initially did with their shoes?
