In n Out is solid. Can't go wrong with a Double Double.
Shake Shack makes better shakes, but the burger is leagues behind In n Out. Five Guys is fine until they throw scalding hot fries all inside the bag and give you third degree finger burns from trying to reach in and get out your already greasy burger. Great for wanting a nap after though. Those things are like you've been shot with a bear tranquilizer. |

in and out kicks ass. even with the hidden bible verses in the packaging, its still literally “what a hamburger is all about.” all you naysayers have been added to the list.

Shake shack is not amazing—just ok
I’ll say their milkshake is outstanding. Their burger is ok—fries are bad. In n out is dependable, not amazing not bad. I’d say in n out and shake shack are even. Shake shack has a better bun for sure. If you could mix a match elements I’d be happy Hand the griddle to me and I’ll make y’all a burger Last edited by jtakeda; 11-23-2020 at 10:53 AM. |

At least there’s consistency and consensus in this thread.

I don't get it....never been there, but a manager in my office bought lunch for everyone (a year ago when we were still in the office) and had it delivered. It was OK. It's a fried chicken sandwich....big whup.

It’s hard to beat in n out while driving home from a long ride on a hot day - the first bite of a double double is always stupendous, followed by a drastic decline in excitement. It’s certainly worth no wait, but the price sets it apart !

Since people keep bringing up chicken, Raisin' Canes! Best chicken, excellent fries. And the Canes Sauce... YUM! And they have good lemonade and their Texas Toast. And the chicken isn't greasy like other fast food chicken places are (CFA).
Anyone have a Canes in their area? |

Memorable Burgers
Many years ago, my father, brother and I were traveling through Urbana, Ohio and we stopped for gas at a local filling station. On one end of the station building was a small cafe. As dad was tending the car, he sent us into the cafe to get some carryout burgers.
We placed the order and to our surprise, the cook took some balls of burger from the refrigerator and then dropped them into a pool of hot oil about an inch deep that was in a large, flat cooking device. The cook then took a spatula and flattened the floating balls of meat, resulting in deep-fried patties. The cook then assembled the burgers with condiments, wrapped them individually and placed them in a small paper bag. By the time we got outside to the car, the bag was translucent from the grease. Those were some of the best burgers ever.

We thought the Jollibee opening was nuts here. They put up tents/ canopies for people to wait under.

Their popularity in spite of having horrible fries really speaks to how great the burger is.

“There is one infallible way to find honest food at just prices in blue highway America: count the wall calendars in a café.
No calendar: Same as an interstate pit stop One calendar: preprocessed food assembled in New Jersey Two calendars: Only if fish trophies present Three calendars: Can’t miss on the farm boy breakfasts Four calendars: Try the ho-made pie, too. Five calendars: Keep it under your hat, or they will franchise One time I found a six calendar café in the Ozarks, which served fired chicken, peach pie, and chocolate malts, that left me searching for another ever since. I’ve never seen a seven-calendar place.” William Least Heat Moon, "Blue Highways" Last edited by sg8357; 11-23-2020 at 11:08 AM. |

That's a bummer. For those not familiar, B-Spot is a casual dining restaurant owned by celebrity chef Michael Simon. Their fries are cooked in duck fat and are crazy good.

For the price and what you're getting, In N Out can't be beat. Fresh ingredients and beef.
