Headbadge attachment
An associate has stripped his late model DeRosa down to bare aluminum and clearcoated. The original headbadge was bonded/glued to the head tube, no rivets. Any surface prep and/or product recommendations to reattach headbadge over said clearcoat?

clear silicone sealant like you use in the shower. easy to apply, cheap, and easy enough to remove and retry if you screw up. At the same time, isnt going to come off unless you want it too.

So I picked up automotive mounting tape (3m super strength) and am hoping to attach it to the Bob Jackson. How have people done this? Am wondering if I just need one strip down the middle, maybe 3 strips horizontally/vertically? Thanks

I attached one of the Jen Greene silver head badges to my Ti dean about 8 years ago with JB Weld. Still there

The badges I had were fairly round/oval so fairly meticulous and trimmed exact to fit. Actually, cut them a bit undersized as they sometimes bulged out a tiny bit upon application.

I have used Gorilla Contact Adhesive Clear Grip to install head badges and the Di2 junction box mount on the underside of my stem. I have never had an issue with neither the head badge nor the mount falling off even in hot weather.
Easy to remove if you want to keep the head badge or reposition it. Just turn a hair dryer on high and let the hot air soften up the adhesive until you can remove the head badge. I found that cleaning the head tube or stem with an alcohol pad helps with adhesion. Ride safe and stay healthy. |

Alternatively, you can use industrial tape like 3M 5952. Cut and fit. But be CERTAIN it's where you want it. |

The Bob Jackson head tube is not drilled and tapped to accept screws?
