Trek Domane Classics - Gregory Rast's 2012 bike

2012 Trek Domane Classics, 62cm

Made for Gregory Rast as part of the Trek Leopard Spring Classics Campaign. Best I can tell this is 1 of 2 made for Rast and 1 of 24 made for the team (2 per rider). Per comments in an earlier thread about this frame, it appears this was likely his P-R backup bike, as it has the P-R cobble sticker on the TT, but another forumite who worked at Trek said his original 2012 bike is/was at Trek as part of a history display. Either way it's a cool frame with a unique history!

Super long and low geo, which I absolutely love for the type of riding I do. Came built with DA 7900 and Aeolus 5 clinchers. Only changes are to swap the stem (came with 105, moved to 130) and bars (currently bullhorn-esque 46cm, just bought 42's).

First ride out yesterday exceeded all expectations. Isospeed isn't just marketing hype, although I wish the front end had the same dampening, as you def feel all the bumps up front but little/none on the back end. Geo really makes it feel like you're sitting "in" the bike vs. on it, as weird as that seems. I could really get behind the crank and crushed my fastest ride on my local 40mi loop....set 25 PRs and have never ridden it faster. Maybe it's the "new bike effect" but either way I'm happy it's as good as I expected.

Now I just need to swap over my Vittoria gumwalls.....

That's a great bike! My teammate has Stijn Devolder's from the same season.

Trek gave the team bikes a little extra carbon in the bottom bracket area, and in the areas flexed by the Isospeed thingy to meet the needs of pro racing. I remember hearing from a friend at Trek that Fabian's had and extra 1/2 lb of carbon in it!

The bikes were built and tuned to each rider's wants/needs. Very cool.
