I've owned two (and I think I sold both here).

He rides the smaller ones, but I'd trust Ryan's opinions on the frames he had regardless..

Nope, Clean39t takes care of the end of the market, I deal in the other end and Ryun in the middle.

I do wish I did not sell the blue one.

I don't own one, but a friend from Melbourne does, and he rode it from NYC to Denver a few years back. Here's a shot I took of it, loaded up somewhere in West Virginia, if I recall correctly.

I really am getting tired of black bikes though. If buying a custom carbon today who would you all pick?

Appleman?
Crumpton?
Pursuit (Strong)?

Just curious as I am far from getting a new bike.

Argonaut has got to be in there as well. Just as any other frame, a lot boils down to aesthetics and builder preference. I love the “nude” carbon look of the Appleman, and the builder seems like a cool dude. So, if I had the cash, that’s who I would opt for.

That being said, I’ve spoken with Carl a few times, and he’s extremely knowledgeable and professional. He’s a legend in the industry. If I’m not mistaken, Erik Rolf (Alliance) makes a lot of his frames. I’ve got two Ti bikes from him, and he’s a master craftsman.

I'll play since I have been contemplating this quite a bit over something that if I get, likely won't be until 2025.

If ordering one today, it would be either a Sarto Seta Plus or a Crumpton All Road. If I'd be paying full price, it would definitely be the Crumpton. Although this is arbitrary and capricious, what I like about Crumpton over Appleman is that Nick makes the tubes in house versus Matt specifically designing all the tubes and having them built for him. The idea of one guy doing everything from start to finish is more appealing to me. At full price, I'd be more inclined to get an Appleman over a Sarto because of the appeal of the smaller builder.

Great bikes, though a Z0 is more expensive than all the other options plus another $1000 if you want custom geometry. I'd love to have one, though I never really see a used one that fits me for sale.
