Exactly, even if you decide all e-bikes are forbidden on paths or sidewalks how will this be unforced? Bike path police?

This is a pretty tough problem.

You have to at least put an effort in.

The police have ATVs for enforcement but the # of times you will spot them out doing so is very rare.

I've seen people on eMotorycles that are not even pretending to be be bicycles out on the MUTs doing wheelies at 35mph. Who is possibly going to confront them? The police ATV will not be able to catch them if they tried.

The fact is the current situation is a bit like the wild west era.
Lots of big guns and little enforcement.
When electric bikes are not differentiated between a light weight fast e-road bike and a fast fat/heavy motorcycle?
I see a period of chaos ahead.
And a lot of injuries.
And there are 50 states currently with 50 different sets of laws.
