I had one slam into my rear 404 on a descent once. Twacky carbony loud speaker sound was so loud. I remember thinking I was glad I was not running low profile wheels that day.

A catfish?! Seems like you should've been able to go around a catfish.

I 100% killed a chipmunk on River Road in NJ they just sprint right in front of you. There are often quite a few of them dead on the road over there. A little sad I guess.

Having seen various broken fork photos, indecisive acting squirrels always make me nervous. My closest call with animals was on a narrow, steep downhill in NJ, coming around a bend, only to find two skunks having a battle in the middle of the road. Luckily, I was able to stop some distance away (even with rim brakes!) to wait for them to finish.

I became a vegetarian after running over a squirrel.

I yell at them to try and force them to make a move before we intersect, has generally been effective. I feel a little bad when I see them as roadkill but they wreak havoc with our fruit trees so that feeling passes quickly.

squirrels and chipmunks are making an absolute mess of my front lawn and back yard.

I support population control.

This is my thinking as well. Squirrels assume you are a predator and try evasive maneuvers to escape. That is why they seem to go full kamikaze when you attempt to avoid them.

The bets thing you can do for yourself and the squirrel, keep your line. They do have very flexible bone structure, it may me be ok.

Buddy of mine had one dart through his wheel while we were on a spirited group ride. Clipped about 3 inches off the tail. He put it at the back of his helmet as a trophy.

Flash flood washed out a taro and rice paddy across a narrow bike path about a block from Lehua Ave in Pearl City. Locals raise catfish in the paddys. I've got a picture but it's on my other laptop.
