Instead of reassuring those who have lost or will lose their jobs or work paycheck to paycheck or are in the gig economy and self employed, he proposed a payroll tax cut, which helps them not a wit, but does give those who are employed cash in their pocket, and would give our President the hope that increased consumer spending will stave off a recession and improve his chances of reelection (while perhaps cutting entitlements - he has reportedly suggested that the payroll tax should be permanently removed - so much for social security). He had the opportunity to address why it was important for people to exercise social distancing to slow the spread and prevent our medical systems from being overwhelmed. He had the opportunity to ask us all to come together in shared sacrifice for the good of our communities, he failed. Instead he blamed the outbreak on "others" "foreigners" - Chinese, and Koreans and Europeans (apparently UK residents are magically immune to the virus despite the empirical evidence to the contrary). Rather than address the true concerns of the American people and the real problems, he announced another wall.

Biden has a golden opportunity tomorrow to provide a stark contrast on leadership. We'll see if he's up to the task.
Maybe Sleepy Joe could challenge that Coronavirus to a push-up contest.

Or maybe he could borrow some of his son's Burisma money to develop a vaccine.

Dr. Jill Biden will certainly need to brief him on precisely the words he is to use.
VP Joe Biden cannot be trusted to avoid retelling old Corn Pop pool stories.
He will almost certainly say, "C'mon, man!" before inviting someone to a push-up contest and/or a fistfight.

Okay everyone we have strayed into the political waters too much.

I'm closing it for now. The posts are fine dealing with the spread of the virus, it's infectivity, what's happening in rest of the world, etc.

I'll ask for input from the other mods but my feeling is that we need to take a break on this topic.
