Anyone use Ratio Tech to run 1x13 on rim brakes
I’m converting my Kirk from red10 to campy 11 but the current FD and crank ( SR but with TA spec. rings) is giving me fits trying to get good shifting at FD. That got me thinking about doing a 1x13 because I have a set of etap 11 shifters and the Ratio Tech is advertised to work with sram 11 shifters. It is probably too much of an outlay of $ to make it reasonable given that I have 11spd stuff on hand. My orig. goal was to have my modern bikes be 11 so I can easily move wheels around, but I wondered if anyone here had tried the conversion?

I know someone locally that uses a ton of ratio stuff and is very happy with it. He uses it with cable disc though.
For your use case though... I don't know if it makes sense given the costs and your goal of wanting to have everything 11 speed, but only you can decide that. |

That said, all the reviews I've seen for Ratio's conversion kits have been positive. And you might be able to install a Ratio kit in the Red 10 speed lever (paired with a SRAM 11s MTN RD and Ekar cassette). Or, Last edited by Alistair; Today at 01:56 PM. |

oops, no

It of course would give me a non-compatible bike and the other issue is whether I could get enough selling the red 10 and 11 to pay for ekar crank, chain, RD, cassette and a set of sram 11. |

The 13 speed ratio gear will work in the Red10 Shifter. I thought it was Ekar spacing specific with a SRAM derailleur but I'm not sure if you would even need an Ekar crank if it's 1x.

Looks like ratio tech has tested some combos
They rec 11-spd shifters over 10 ( 10 need additional mod with cable spool) and NOT ekar RD but instead exact actuation sram RD. Still would need ekar chain, cassette, either ekar or ratio rings
At least that is how I read their info: https://ratiotechnology.com/ratio-up...v=0b3b97fa6688 |

Honestly, if you want the bikes to match on gear count (not unreasonable), I’d sell the 10s and 11s eTap stuff and get force 11 speed (with Red or 3rd party for some parts if you want). You can get Force 1 levers if you want to go 1x or Force 22 for 2x. With 1x, you get a 10-42 cassette which pairs nicely with anywhere from a 38 to 44+ ring depending on what you need. |

No, Only the original OG Force and Rival 10 shifters with the white spool would need an upgrade(which ratio also sells). The Red10 first gen works without a new spool since it comes with the red(colored) spool.
The information is buried here: https://ratiotechnology.com/ratio-up...v=0b3b97fa6688 Quote:

You could do this by "upgrading" your Red10 to 11 speed with an 11 speed ratchet. I've done it on 2 sets of shifters. The only problem is sourcing an 11 speed ratchet from someone who has upgraded to 12 or 13 speed.
