NBD Serotta: My white whale

Just picked one of these up after years of “ya just missed it” responses. Couldn’t be more excited for the build.

Nice that must be a fairly late model? 2009-2011 or so?

I had a 2007 with the same option to delete the carbon seat stays, my fork did not have the stiffness decal on it.
Unless I'm misremembering and that's an F2 fork... I am assuming it's a stiffness level 2 version of the F3 fork.

Also again unless they changed them keep a careful eye on the beautiful titanium threaded cable adjusters.. don't lose them, and they seemed to like to lose their adjustment.

Concours was axed somewhere in the early 2000s. That fork is an F2 fork, not the F3 fork you are thinking of.

It is actually an 02, not an F2.....not sure of all the differences, but I don't think it has the titanium dropouts or other hardware. Pretty much an Ouzo Pro clone, IIRC.....check out page 23 of the 2003 catalog, it is shown there.

Still, a very good fork and well suited to the bike!

Mine was a 2007. Not sure but I might still even have the build sheet. I sold it to a friend, and he probably still has it. I don't recall if I gave him the build sheet.

They definitely were around later. I think they were calling them Concours CS or something when they had Carbon stays, but the option was there to delete them.

The F3 forks came in 3 different stiffness profiles.. late in the companies history I thought some of the forks started getting marked with their stiffness level.

There was also a cheaper fork towards the end IIRC? I think the 02 fork was near the end, not before the F3.

I have a lot of memory of it as I even went to the factory while mine was being built and have pictures of it hanging in the blasting room. Serotta let me take a zillion photos. Also I have vivid memories of screwing up my taxes that year and giving all the money for the Serotta to the IRS after putting my order in, then using a 12-month zero interest deal to pay for it and being embarrassed.

2007 Catalog is here on the forum, I really believe this bike is post-2008 or so after the trouble started.

Serotta carbon fork history

When I became involved with supplying forks to Serotta they had quit using the F1 fork and were shopping for something new.

They began by using our standard Ouzo Pros and asked for a private label version they could brand as their own. This began with the O2 version which was an Ouzo Pro with a bit of additional stiffness. About 15% so they could say they contributed something to the design. The next version was the F2 which was the same as an O2 but had a titanium race & dropouts.

The first fork we supplied using their in-house CAD design was the F3. Roughly 2004-2005. This began with Ti race & dropouts and was supplied in 3 levels stiffness. In terms of construction it was still basically an OP with a new shape.

Over time this morphed into the S2 which was the price point offering with aluminum bits instead of Ti and fewer options for layups etc.

Later in the life/death of the company all bets were off and most of the Ti bits turned into aluminum for cost purposes.

Then the lights went out...

OK that makes sense... S2 not O2.

Then this is an earlier one.

I did find my build sheet FWIW.. in my folder of fitting sheets.
