Re: GravelKing Slicks

Has anyone tried out the "Plus+" version? Supposedly improved puncture and wear resistance with only a 20-30g penalty. Comes in 26, 28, 32, 35, and 38mm wide flavors.

If so, any noticeable differences in both performance and installation?

Seems like a mixed bag on here in terms of getting flats/punctures on the standard GK slicks. FWIW I'm running GK (TL ready) slicks (700x35) with tubes on my commuter bike and haven't encountered a puncture yet - touch wood.

I'd be much more concerned about differences to rolling resistance than weight.

FAT slick gravel tires?

I just put on a pair of Gravelking SS 700x43's. The tire beads fit loose on the rims and I could not get the beads to pop out to the rim walls even with a small air compressor and the valve core removed; too much air leakage around the beads. The Hutchinson Overides I had on before fit much better, and personally think they are better tires, but I wanted a wider tire and the Gravelkings have better rolling resistance, which I may or may not even notice. I put on some Caffelatex tubeless rim strips and the tires fit much better. Rims are DT R460s with 2 layers of Stan's rim tape.
