That seems like a lot of cash for that.

It was several years ago, but I remember paying $300 for that same service from them. 2012 or 2013? I imagine the expenses for them are higher now, but still seems steep.

I would go to Ollie at Dark Matter. He’s refinished all my Ti frames with etched logos. Great work at a reasonable price.

The cost is not surprising. Moots has always charged a super premium price. It's part of their mystique and image.

One one hand: 1000 bucks is cheap compared to a new moots frame!

On another hand: ouch; for a thousand bucks I can get a whole new frame!

For an original owner to refresh their current frame, it might be a little high but not that much.

I see value in this if you bought a used Moots that is a bit tired and you want to make it yours and ensure the alignment is good.

Wonder what, if any, guarantees they pass on if they check the frame etc.? If it adds to/refreshing a warranty, that might be reason enough.

Should have added, at the time I sent my frame in anodizing hadn’t become a common finish for Ti, so mine was just beadblast, decals, alignment check and new head badge.

The price range for the current refresh is actually much greater than what the OP indicated. $800 is minimum, but if you opt for some of the fancy anodizing you can add over $1000 to that. Not saying the cost isn’t justified, just adding context.

As someone that worked in the sandblasting industry for a decade that price is insane.

Lots of cuteness and color added.
My choice in 2005 was just a head badge.
Had it powder coated at Spectrum Powder Works with some Ti exposed.
It looks pretty much the same today with I don't know how many miles.
I would change the color choice slightly if I placed the order today, but I'm not looking at the frame that much while riding it.
It's not showing any rust currently.

iirc, I paid around $800 in 2018 dollars to have a Moots frame, fork, and seatpost refinished by Black Magic in Portland - and that included prepping and painting the fork. So -- their price seems in line with the market, especially accounting for five years of inflationary tomfoolery.

Moots frame refresh program

I also had my CR refinshed by Black Magic. Media blasted frame, cranks and stem. Then they cleaned and painted a portion of my frame and paint matched the fork for about $1800 in 2021.

I agree, seems excessive but that's the bike industry today.

I said the same thing but if you look they have around 30-40 demo bikes for sale between 12-14K. Thanks a lot of money just sitting around. My guess is they need some monetary income coming in
