Cycling Brands I get behind

Cool thing about cycling is its brands. Here are some of my favorites. Mostly are small companies (some are not) but all have a good message beyond cycling. And mostly are USA.


1) Velocio: My current favorite cycling clothing. I even like the bibs as much Q365.

2) Sram: It has taken me awhile to come over but with AXS I am drinking the Kool-Aid

3) Dyna-Plug: Best tire plugs and the best mascot Meerkat.

4) Kate Courtney: A person who is building her own brand. She is such a positive role model and not afraid to speak out when needed. Cannot wait to see her kick ass in the Olympics.

+1 on Kate Courtney. Her Instagram workouts are crazy. Her career is off to a great start and, if she keeps it up, she will be a force for years to come as she matures. The 1 year Olympic delay may just work out in her favor.

Carry a Dynaplug all the time - road, gravel and mountain.

I'm a Campagnolo guy for road bikes and Shimano for the rest. Well, I have Force1 on one bike but plan to sell it.

I have seen her in person and she is just muscle. I think if she wins with the delay her win will be more legitimate since her two rivals will not becoming from major injuries and surgery.

Abbey Tools - well made, functional

Castelli Clothes - jackets, jerseys, tights are well made, good functionality, durable

Bontrager - their stuff has come a long way but now has good quality, durable and functional. I like their jackets, bar tape, handlebars, saddles, tires.

Eliel for cycling clothes. There are a number of companies making nice clothes, but Eliel is local and very involved in the local cycling community. I also appreciate that they make shorts in short length for those of who are vertically challenged.

Ornot. In addition to great clothing, they are becoming more and more of a mission driven company - supporting local high school development teams, joining 1% for the planet and becoming climate neutral.

Not cycling related, but I cant say enough good things about Hoka running shoes. They look dumb, but I have simply never worn more comfortable shoes. I have found the most normal looking ones that I can wear, and wear them with a smile.

If I were to be a 'brand ambassador', I would do it for this company. They could have a chubby, middle-aged man boasting great walk/run interval times all day long!

Tenspeed Hero: seems like a fun company who doesn't take themselves too seriously. They sponsor a lot of women who look like they love to ride/race their bikes. And aesthetically, I love their pieces

I've been really into Velocolour's messaging lately. It's a company that takes the environment seriously and is modeling how to do business ethically. The owners aren't afraid to speak to what's important to them, and that's worth a lot to me.
