How do you store bikes without wheels on them?

I'm not sure if this is a stupid question, but I have a few bikes and a few sets of wheels, and I switch the wheels between the bikes.

I had a thought that it might be easier to have most of the bikes wheel-less, just to save the annoyance of taking a set of wheels off a bike and then switching between them.

It's not a big deal, just a bit annoying.

So anyway, does anyone here store their bikes without wheels on? If so, what device/contraption do you use?

I did some googling but couldn't find anything... probably using the wrong keywords.

yes.

for vertical storage with hooks in the rafters i have used a dummy hub in the fork and just hang the bike by the hub in the front, and similarly a piece of steel rod in the rear to hang the bike that way.

without being able to hang them, i concur that a wheel-less frame is an awkward shape to store!

I use these for mounting bikes without wheels on the wall of my bike workshop:

Frames alone hang on hooks from the ceiling.

Kinda funny that the hot-mess of a folding mountain bike in the stock image on the HD website has a colnago sticker on it.

I have one of the folding storage brackets like Kingpin does and it works well. I never thought of using a dummy hub though and have several old hubs that would do the job. Thanks Angry!

If you've got ceiling hooks, you can just hang the bike/frame inside the rear non-drive side dropout.

Run a pipe across the rafters and just hook the saddle over it bike rack style (like the kind you might see on an organized ride rest stop). you could get a section and pipe clamp it to the top of the rafters.

Thanks guys. I already hang some bikes from hooks - the hub idea sounds good. I don't have any hubs spare but ebay looks rich with cheap hubs!

I have used this cheap stand from Harbor Freight to "hang" bikes without wheels on their saddles.
