A friend from years ago who was a national team mtb racer had a similar incident in Moab a few years ago, he was not so lucky and lost his leg.
Good luck with healing and rehab. |

Driving through north Carolina years ago I drove on the blue ridge parkway through a deluge of a storm.
When I saw the first boulder hit a car then another flew by I was in for it, I swerved around a few but other drivers weren't so lucky. At least I knew what side they were coming from and I said my prayers that day Hope you get better |

HOLY SCHNYKEES!!! That is some serious bad luck three years running!
Heal up fast, but more importantly go buy 1 super lotto ticket. You’re luck has got to turn big time! I’ve been wanting to get back on my roadie...maybe this is a warning to me to stay off the bike. Danger Will Robinson! Danger! |

Holy sh*t. Take the hint, my friend!
At least you're getting hella stories out of this...and that's always a good thing. Rest and repair! We're all rooting for your recovery. |

Those x rays hurt just looking at them.
I fully understand screws and rods in bones. Get well quick.

Reach tried to bill me $90,000 from the flight from Bishop to Reno. Took over a year of back and forth between my insurance and Reach to reach any sort of settlement.

I was on my titanium Timberjack hardtail. It shows NO signs that it was in a collision with a 73 lb boulder. I took 100% of the hit.

Really... and you have reach? The plan I signed up for only charges you if you demand to be taken to your home hospital vs the closest hospital

This is where it happened. The most benign portion of the ride. The only paved, residential segment of RR Grade.

When I saw the condition of my leg I was totally freaking out. It was bent at 30 degrees. As much as it hurt, I think I was screaming more out of panic. I had no idea how bad the injury was internally and was thinking worst case scenarios. The potential loss of leg was definitely running through my mind. |
