Fail rate for bnib Vittoria latex tubes?
I've just had the unpleasant experience of having a tube burst straight out of the box. Out of 3 - I don't buy tubes that often but that's ridiculous... Despite what Meatloaf says.
I've been wearing down the last pair of tubed tyres I have and am actually very happy with Vittorias (no actual punctures on the road) but I've had consistent ruptures near the valve webbing from inflating them ham fistedly - pushing in the stem seems to rupture it - maybe it sticks to the rim tape. This must have been a recognised issue since the new ones come with a longer webbing area to support the exact rupture zone. The one that burst went immediately after just pumping in some air to give it some shape - not even on the rim yet. |

I've been using vittoria tubes for years and have had one out of the box failure, last year. It was a new tube on a new tire and it split at the valve stem within a few miles.
Vittoria sent me a new one. |

Been using Vittoria for years. The only failure was user error.
Zero flats. |

I've had the same thing happen to me, though not with a brand new tube. One of the tubes is still doing fine. Never had a valve pullout like that with a butyl tube.

I've had much better luck all around with Challenge seamless latex tubes.

All the time
This happens to me a lot when installing new Vittoria latex tubes - always around the valve. The problem is that there's no thread for putting a valve nut, and when attaching a pump, it will push the valve inwards. Maybe less of a problem with other pumps and maybe user error, but yes it's an annoyance.

I use a lot of Vittoria's and haven't experienced this problem.
That said, I had several Vredestein latex tubes fail right out of the box a few months back. I refuse to use the remaining ones and will never buy them again. I love the Vittoria's. |

Most likely there are batch variations, so luck of the draw is a thing. Personally had zero issues with Vittoria latex tubes.

Yup, I’ve had good luck with the 700x25-28 size, and a bunch of failures at the valve in the larger 700x38 size. In fact I had two of those big ones fail at the valve at the same time, just pumping up in my basement before a ride. That was after several months of use, so that failure was actually good luck!

I've had a few tear right at edge where the valve part meets the latex. User error, you gotta not let your pump push the valve in too far when the tire is very low during your air up. That is where/when I get my rips, and 1/2 of those have been repairable/patchable.
