Chapman Cycles bi-laminate head tube video

This popped up on my feed.
Never heard of Chapman Cycles.
No idea if this is being done properly or not but it was cool to see.

Brian used to build frames for Circle A, is a rad flatland rider, and happens to build and paint some of the classiest frames out there. He's pre-legendary.

I can't imagine the time involved in creating that.

Remind me to not complain about what a custom frame costs.

His videos on making custom cantilever brakes are crazy to watch, the level of detail and control needed is incredible.

He is a good follow on instagram.

You can be sure that if Brian Chapman is doing it, it is being done properly.

For this level of work his starting prices are not at all ridiculous (IMO), especially building in RI. Maybe it's cheaper to work there than MA/CT/NY but it's still not a low cost location.

Hard to say though if it's through the roof by the time you get through with him doing custom fenders or brakes or stems or one of these head tubes.

I am curious if this head tube is just artwork or if it has some interesting tradeoffs vs a straight up lugged/brazed setup or a standard TIG welded setup.

Pawtuxet Village is beautiful right on Narragansett Bay, worth a visit if you are going through.

Could kayak there across the bay if we didn't mind BIG boats coming through!

Wonderful Italian restaurant there.

Brian is definitely an artist. You can watch hours of his fabrication videos - they're quite mesmerizing. The kind of bike builder who will build a cable hanger from scratch rather than just buy a Nitto one.

Such an incredible skillset, he does everything on the bike he sells, I think he's only ever sold a handful of framesets, as he prefers the bikes to leave the shop complete and ready to go.

One of my favorite videos is him making center pull brakes, such a cool process. His booth at the Philly Bike Expo is always impressive.
