They are initially expensive, but what is the rational value of a lifetime bottom bracket which withstands daily heavy abuse for decades and is re-serviceable, top quality in every detail, made by one of the top bb producers in the world, a supremely reliable long-time and very stable company with clear focus and outstanding customer service?

In that light, they can be seen as an excellent bargain imo.


Edit: Centaur are A-OK, too, just not the lifetime robustness of a PW, but perfectly fine especially since you wrote this will be on a track bicycle. You may not need the "tankness" of a PW for that purpose/build.
