Should I keep hanging on to Campagnolo 10 Speed?
New bike time and the end of year deals on Ultegra bikes are really good, I’ve benn hoarding Campagnolo 10 for years and can’t decide whether to sell it all to get a better bike with Shimano. I’m looking at a Cannondale Super Six which frame only is the Hi Mod is out of my price range. Or I could buy it and sell the shimano stuff. I’m feeling like it’s time to let go...
Any advice or thoughts Thanks! |

I almost never ride my Campagnolo 10-speed bikes anymore after getting Shimano 11-speed in both Dura Ace and 105 versions.
I hate to say it, but it’s more fun for me. The shifting is precise and super reliable and I just like the ergonomics of the Shimano levers more than I like the Campagnolo levers. The old shape is gone for the most part (I did like those) and the rear shifting seems primitive to me after getting used to Shimano. I am largely agnostic on this but anecdotally I just don’t ride the Campagnolo-equipped bikes very often. They’re not the ones I reach for. Might be time to move on. |

That Ultegra will put you in a whole 'nother league. I would dump the Campy stuff.

Indeed, sell all yer Campy. Get rid of it now.

It’s about the ride, not about the brand or image.

Obey your thirst.
But I find Campy 10 speed MUCH easier to work on than any of the new stuff. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Tapatalk

I have bikes running on shimano gruppo ranging from 9 speed to 11 speed. Like what clean pal said, the 9 speed is so much easier to work with and they just plain works. When I ride on them, I never ever missed the newer stuff. I am a self-confessed hoarder and probably has more number of 9 speed complete groupset than anyone alive and I am still afraid that i may not have stocked up enough for long days ahead.
I know I am talking about shimano but just to bring our conversation back to campy....I have acquired two bikes that came complete with 10 speed Chorus so what do I do? Yup, I swapped them out for shimano but guess what, I left the crankset on, in both instances just because I think it has one of the prettiest silver finish...

Ultegra 9 spd is the best value groupset now.
Campy record 10 spd is the best cool factor imo. Obviously the latest and greatest 11 spd whatever (especially electronic) is the smoothest. |

IMO Campy 10 is the pinnacle when it comes to groups.

I recently switched from Campy 10 to DA 9100 on my main road bike. My reasons were to get some lower gearing and try something new. The DA group is a little more involved to setup, but once setup, the shifts are smooth and precise. The drivetrain is quiet. Throws are short and the touch is light. The levers, especially the way they angle out, are easier to operate and you don't have to reach up with your thumb to shift in the drops. Yes, you can't really dump the whole cassette, but IMHO, it's not too bad.
I still have Campy 10 on another bike. I like that the levers are rebuildable and that parts are still available. I actually just rode the Campy 10 bike the other day and it felt like visiting an old friend. I say get it if you'd like to try something new, otherwise, I'm sure you'll be good on Campy 10 for many more miles. |

what about campy 11?
I would take campy 11 over 10 any second of the day. Ergonomics is next to none, works great, looks good (ok not as good as 10 but can't have everything). |

It is.. but it´s also about so many things. Tradition, looks, passion etcetera. If we are going to rationalize, we need only one bike and even tiagra is working very well these days.

I switched all of my bikes to campy 11 speed in 2009. No regrets, it works well and I just built a new bike with 2018 chorus.

I think the new chorus is some of the best stuff campy has ever done
