Tubeless Carbon rim recommendation
Greetings Paceline,
So, I’m seriously considering a carbon disc wheel set that will meet the following requirements. Easy tubeless install Optimized for 28-30mm tires Crosswind friendly Reasonably Affordable What tried and true rims would you recommend I look into? Also, is 21mm ID a necessity? Thanks in advance, Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Moderately affordable? Can I even buy them as rims? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Thanks, but I need to clarify: I just want the rims—will build the wheel set.

Wheels, but not rims.
I’m intrigued by the Flo carbon wheels, and likely will be getting a set for the gravel bike I’m building. https://flocycling.com/. They are reasonably priced, and the reviews have been really good. If you are going tubeless, a wider internal rim width is a benefit. There is a lot of material on the internet you can read. For instance, https://cyclingtips.com/2016/11/the-...e-road-wheels/.

Hard to beat Light-Bicycle Recon or Recon Pro rims.

Yeah, with the Pro you get either a 5 year or lifetime warranty. And it is pretty much "you break it, you get it".

HED Vanquish / Vanquish GP (they might have changed the names). Not crazy expensive, available as rims and made in U.S.A. I've been on Vanquish GPs this year and really like them, whole time on 28s. Optimized (that is, aero) for 28s but will easily take wider. If you want "optimized for 30" from an aero point of view, I'm not sure.
I'm on the GPs because they come in a 28-hole drilling, at the expense of some weight. Caveat: disc only. You won't find rim brake hoops optimized for 28 or 30c though, I don't think. |

The question is how well your brakes will work with a rim that's 30mm wide. I think the current generation of Shimano calipers should be able to handle that, but I'm not positive. It's definitely a lot wider than any other rim that I'm aware of. |
