DI2 v.s. Campy 10
I have been a holdout. Campy 10 - Still love it... but now with a week using a bike that has 11 speed ultegra DI2 I am really liking it. I prefer the thumb /finger paddle of campy, but the crisp shift of DI2 is... really nice. I thought I would never say this but... DI2 is nice.

I'd suggest also trying EPS if you have the chance. The current issue with EPS is that if you want to go 12 speed, your only option is Super Record. Of course, the 11 speed EPS was pricey too. I prefer the shifting mechanism of Shimano, but those Campy levers feel good in your hand.

Then get EPS. Best of both worlds if you're torn.

I have Di2 Dura Ace 11 speed and EPS V3 SR 11 speed.
Both are brilliant! The shape of the shifter and the buttons are quite different however. The Di2 system has more options for specific settings like if you want to have semi synchro or synchro shifting, etc... |

I've been a Campy guy for years, and wanted to make the jump to electronic shifting. it was a pain in the you know where trying to source it...most places had some of the components in stock but I couldn't find a shop with everything for a working shift system...and yeah, its not cheap and I was not sure which what would work with what.
Di2...lots of information out there and everything works with together...DA and Ultegra, no problem, it all works. it can be a pain the rear to wire a bike. And because Shimano is OEM for just about every brand, you can get everywhere and there are deals. I want to try Sram, but it's not cheap...then they came out with 12 speed! |

Record EPS isn't hard to find..I'd not rec. Chorus or Athena..different connectors and not compatible with SR/Record.

Here are my thoughts on Campy 10, Campy 11 EPS, and Di2.
https://forums.thepaceline.net/showt...y+11s+back+10s I am happily back to Campy 10 speed. To me it's all about the lever shape being what I prefer. The shifting is perfect - the Di2 might be "crisper", but at the end of the day that doesn't do anything to enhance my riding experience.

Now that Campy and SRAM have 12 speed groups, Shimano can't wait too long to follow. I'd be reluctant to invest in a soon to be obsolete group. AFAIK, e-tap 11 is also no longer made.
I chose Campy Chorus 12 and liked it so well that I switched both of my bikes over to it. Before the switch, I had one pair of early model ultrashift 10 speed levers, converted to 11 speed on my old bike and a set from my 2018 11 speed Chorus group on my newest bike. The brake hood shape seems to get better with each new version and 12 speed is no exception. The changeover was extremely simple. I marked the location of the top of the band clamp on the handlebars, before taking the old ones off and put the new ones in the same position. I particularly like the small hands feature on the new levers, but I've been making my own small hands modification for at least 13 years. The big question is how Shimano will handle their hub situation with 12 speed. Campy did it with no change and SRAM uses the XDR driver. Most Campy hubs with the oversize aluminum axle can be converted to an XDR driver, with a Fulcrum XDR driver. I was just looking at Shimano's 11-34 cassette. What horrible sprocket spacing - 11-13-15-17-19-21-23-23-27-30-34. Campy 12 is 11-12-13-14-15-16-17-19-22-25-29-34. No bad shifting and or chain drop problems with Chorus 12. The front shifting is even better that Chorus 11. The new shift cables are also an improvement. Last edited by Dave; 09-20-2019 at 04:23 PM. |

wait until Shimano comes out with 12-speed dura ace next year. Their 11s components will price drop. I prefer Di2 because you never have to worry about bad shifting and chain drop.

Y'all keep on buying the new stuff and making Record 10 (and eventually 11) cheaper and cheaper.....electronic shifting is cool and all, but when I can buy a groupset for <$500 that used to be the defacto standard for perfection, I'll do that all day long

Campy fan guy. The 10 spd stuff s more robust then the 11 spd (mechanical groups) . Not in any rush to go all 11 or 12. there's plenty of parts to the support the never to be obsolete group.

The record 10QS FD is not a robust design, unfortunately. But before that stupid carbon bridge-tab breaks (again and again and AGAIN!?!?!), it is kind of the most beautiful mass production FD.
