One of the best values out there right now in the new and custom market is a lugged Ellis Strada SLX. Dave's craftsmanship is excellent and you get some nice custom touches with it..

Of course Kirk. Hampsten. And a small handful of others will do an excellent job for you as well. DeSalvo. Rex. Kvale. DiNucci.

But you own it to yourself to do something with a real steel fork at least once in your riding life. They are......a revelation..

You are normal enough in your fit parameters that finding something used shouldn't be that hard.
I don’t have a SLX, but I bought this road strata from Dave last year and it rides great. It is built with a mix of Columbus Life and Dedacciai Zero (downtube). Dave builds an excellent frameset which I highly recommend for those looking for a good builder.

Good Luck!

Nah.

Jack Taylor, Routens, Tom Ritchey, and Toei are all squarely "classic" to me.

Not mentioned but clearly illustrated on the previous page, is that lugs open up a whole new worl of opportunity visually- chromed, polished, contrasting colors, lug lining, etc.

Given a choice I would always choose lugs.

Go with simple Cinelli-style lugs if you go that direction. IMO a simple lug finished well is better than some rococo abomination.
