The wrap angle can begin with about half of the width hanging off the end of the bar. After a couple of turns, push the excess bar tape inside the bar and install the plug. If it doesn't look good, it's easy to unwrap and fix the problem. Most plugs would not stay in place without the excess material inside the bar.

I've been using Deda tape for many years. Never had a problem.

To me the most annoying thing and is not something u do every day, is that I do not have a single alignment table around. String works but the table is ideal to check stuff.

I "taught" my gf to wrap the bars by making her watch the 14 minute Park tools video (teach a man to fish), she has the patience for it. Now she is the resident tape wrapper. My consolation prize for doing all of the wrenching.

Use black bar tape and you won’t have to change it nearly as often

Wrapping improperly is frustrating, but pales in contrast to removing a press in bottom bracket with a mallet and cup removal tool.

I got to a point where I was mentally content missing the tool with the mallet, shattering the frame, and buying a new one instead of dealing with the removal . Luckily it did not come to that.

a couple pro wrenches i know trim the excess tape off the barend with a razor blade, and keep a variety of bar ends to get a secure fit. elec tape works too in a pinch.

agree that wrapping bars is zen-like for me.....same with when I used to glue tubulars. Once you get it, you get it.

Most annoying BY FAR for me, is cable routing through frames that don't have internal cable guides. I have spent hours of my life fishing cables through frames. Almost always because I've bought a used frameset and the prior owner pulled the cables and didn't leave any stringers/cables in place.

Press Fit was designed for those who miss the good old days of cottered
cranks. Someones crank comes loose on ride, everyone looks around
for the proper size hammer stone, to reset the cotter. Holding bike
up on fence post, to use as an anvil.

Cabling a bicycle using Nokon, IRD Metawire, etc is incredibly annoying, with no zen benefits at all, just 100% pita.

Removing pedals is the worst task in my book. It never ceases to amaze me how many shop mechanics initially install them without grease. Last week it took two of us and a long cheater bar to complete the task on a very expensive bike that had seen less than 200 miles of use.

It's cutting the cable housing and getting the right length for all positions on the steer tube. If you start at the highest point then slam the stem there's too much cable. then there's the different cable end diameters, i have campy. bless there heart, always working diligently to re-invent the wheel.

Man, I thought the Zenn like comments were just weird, but maybe you could use a different brand. Or gaffer tape. Or cover the brand with a black sharpie.
You do know Fi'Zik tape is one directional, right?
