+1 for the aluminum crowd

Needed to add the current "go fast" bike that meets the OPs criteria.

My Spooky Mulholland
- eTap.
- HED Jet 4+ Black.
- Conti GP4k...23s.

Not my lightest
Not the comfiest
But probably the funn-est.

Ride fast/hard/often etc.

A. I'd get Alan to do a custom-geo scandium 'road' frameset 2x with horizontal top tube. Rim brake build taking around 35-38mm. 40mm or so carbon rims.

B. When Vaast has their 2x (1100gm M) magnesium frames out, throw them some dosh for a custom geo, same as above.

This bike was pretty kick a** before I sold it. Jimbo251 originally had it built by Carl as one of his special 20th anniversary builds. It weighed in the mid 15s w Al clinchers, not even trying to shave weight and had a great feel to it. Geo was a bit off for me but otherwise I regret letting it go as it just wanted to go fast!

You just described my Richard Sachs signature road bike: PegoRichie steel tubing, 50/34 up front and 11-25 in back, Campy Record, rim brakes, 25c tires pumped up to 90psi, and, because I've had a couple beers already, I'll happily add that I WILL FREAKIN' THROW DOWN WITH ANY OF Y'ALL MUTHFUKKUZ ...BRING IT!!!!

I pretty much have this bike. It's my Kirk JKS. It can fit 28's and "some" 32's depending on how the larger tire runs. The limiting factor is the brake arches being a rim brake bike. If it had disk's I could see it clearing 32's to 35's all day long.

The build has evolved over the years I've owned it. Iv'e slightly shortened the reach and the gearing has changed from 12-25 53x39 to 12-28 or 32 depending and 36x50.

If I want to hurt myself I have a light set of tubulars ready to go but for the most part I use decent alloy clinchers.

I have told people that the handling is like a race stock GS ski. The thing just goes and it doesn't matter if the road is perfect or a s**t show it NEVER get's sketchy. The flip side is that it carves the most beautiful arc when laying it over in a fast turn that it's the closest thing I've had that was "effortless".

Really good to hear b/c this is what I let the Strong go for! Hoping it lands in my porch w/in the next month!

I just went through this. My answer:

Titanium - Slightly more drop and geo for 'quicker' handling vs my existing
Sram AXS, 46-33/10-33
Disc
Low profile carbon, 28s

While I am building this up as a 'go fast' road bike, it will see more general purpose miles than quick (for me anyway) group rides. So I made nods to how I actually will use it with the gearing, front dyno hub for always on front/rear lighting and a third bottle cage mount under the downtube. Can't wait till this one comes in!

Funny you should ask.........my choice is being built as we speak!

Custom Chris Bishop steel frame and fork
Filleted lugs
Direct mount rim brakes
Fast road geometry with room for fat 28's up to 32's
SRAM RED 50/34 with 11-28 in the back
Campy Bora WTOs

What I can't pin down is the color!

A) what material would you choose? Steel or Ti? Steel
B) what tire width? 25 or 28 if roads are very poor
C) what gearing? 52/36 x 11/29
D) rim or discs? Rim

This bike is so sexy it needs a theme song. Something completely lacking in irony. Something that says "You are about to be gobsmacked with an insulin stick." Haters gonna hate: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...6FORM%3DHDRSC3

Frank the Welder is fixin to make me a Dedacciai AL frame that's likely to become my 'go fast metal bike.'

Discs, going to run 25c GP5k tires, likely to go 8000 mechanical shifting since I already have the stuff

Already have a few 'go fast carbon bikes' and one custom steel FN Spirit

I would have EDIT: Alliance make it and go full on weightweenie.
I was contemplating just this. Switched at the last moment to the gravel bike.

Haha. Challenge accepted. The road in question is Skyline. Just after peaking the notorious Pinehurst, you hit a gradual downhill, followed by false flat, downhill, slight uphill. My Firefly is geared at 50/34 with an 11-32 in back. I'm constantly clicking for more top speed. So, we'll see. I'll try to get some documentation
