Anyone else having trouble with the US Mail?

Within one week the US Mail has lost three packages addressed to me. One was "delivered" but I did not get it (home all day), one was lost by the PO when the seller dropped it off and one has been lost in limbo for three days. Anyone else having problems?

Yeah had a package delivered that was torn open, and the contents missing. They delivered it anyway. (Luckily our mailman is awesome and found the contents at the PO and hand delivered them to us.)

Had a recent incident where a package was "delivered", so we gave up on that one and it happened to show up a month later. Bizarre.

We are having issues with local pick up/delivery of mail. I think on average we have mail service 3 days a week due to a severe labor shortage in the area. For the past few weeks the gentleman delivering our mail has been a New Yorker who is working here as a temp and making a more money that he otherwise would.

Not long ago there was a concerted effort to cripple the USPS. You can expect it to get worse for obvious reasons.

That is incredible. What a world.

Around here; I remember when I was a kid we had a regular mail carrier. As a young boy I knew him. my parents tipped him at Christmas. He was part of the local community.

Today I rarely see the same person ever delivering mail. They are often out of uniform. The organization seems a mess.

If they are so understaffed I would prefer if they went to three or 4 days a week and did it better.

They should also outlaw the literal tons of spam junk mail that no one wants and bloats the workload.

Junk mail pays the bills. Boosting the bulk rate could be a good idea tho

USPS was my preferred carrier for a long time with pretty quick delivery and better service. For about a year now our local (pretty rural) town has been very shortstaffed and we're generally getting mail every other day. To Angry's point though, I'd rather reliable delivery every other day than lost or damaged packages.

Only issue I'm seeing is more and more packages are not showing the tracking status correctly. I often drop a package off and the "active tracking" doesn't show up until it is out for delivery. I suspect it is a local issue. Otherwise, can't really complain. Our mailwoman is a contract employee.

My hometown has had ongoing off and on problems with delivery. There was a stretch a couple of years ago where my neighborhood didn’t get mail for 3 weeks and if you went in to pick it up there wasn’t enough staff available to handle the lines of people waiting. The main issue seems to be just inadequate staffing and poor middle management. For instance in the aforementioned 3 week period, when super short handed, instead of delivering on a reduced basis to the whole area, they just stopped delivering to our zone when our carrier sprained her ankle. I am expecting it to get worse again.

I'm in rural NW Arizona and we have mailboxes in clusters that are serviced by USPS contractors. The cluster has large boxes where USPS packages are delivered and then the key is left in the regular box. I have the mail app on my phone and it rarely matches what is in my box. Two years ago, someone found my VA meds shipment on the side of the road. I filed a complaint with USPS and was blown off.

Like others have said, I grew up in a small town and knew our letter carriers. Postal Service was considered a good career and I have several friends that went to work as either a letter carrier or sorter at the post office. We're moving to a small town in Wyoming in the spring. I think the town is a time capsule of rural life. The 4G coverage is pretty decent.

Nothing with actual deliveries. I have worse luck with Amazon.

Except tracking, USPS tracking has never worked for me. It jumps straight from "package in system" to "delivered" with no progress the middle. Stuff generally arrives on time, I just don't see updates on the website.

Get used to it. This is apparently what half the country wants. En****ification of everything. Break all public works so the only viable solution is a two-tiered privatized version of the service - the rich get their needs met, the rest of us are left with third-world level access to things that most of us assumed would be there forever.. libraries, public transportation, mail service, hospitals, etc. But the people have spoken. We ARE going back.
