95% OT: need an eSIM for Spain and Mallorca

Going to BCN, Girona, and Mallorca in a couple of weeks (yes, absolutely will be riding)

What's a good data / phone / text eSIM for iphone?
Something with easy install instructions that won't leave me cursing out my phone when I land in Spain.

I've used Airalo and it's been easy. You download the app, pay in advance, and then get the instructions to load the eSim -- I typically load it in the airport before I leave the states just so I know it's done.

I used them in Portugal with no issues at all. +1

I've used Ubigi worldwide and was always happy with them. Not the nicest app but always worked for all of our family members.

Did you check with your carrier? Verizon was $10/day for Europe for us.

I got enough data and time for a week in Portugal for $10 with Airalo. Worth looking into

maya

We used maya.net recently in the UK. Bought way too much data but it was only $20, my kids used the most, I used less than 2 GB in 3 weeks.

I'm also going to Barcelona and Girona in September and I've been looking for the same guidance.

Wireless in Europe (and Spain in particular) is very cheap compared to NA. $10/day via carrier roaming means you'd be overpaying by a factor of 10 :-)

I used Airalo in Portugal and it was completely useless. The slowest internet I have experienced outside of dial up modems. The one time I really needed data was when I tried to look for the closest hospital because I was sick with COVID and needed a hospital. I had to ask someone else to use their phone to Google the closest hospital because my data was so slow and the pages would not load.

Would never use them again.

Glad to hear others have had better success.

Google Fi

Set up a plan turn it on when you need it, works on iphones. Could be cheaper with an e-sim but this has been my solution for ease of use.

A good friend of mine used Orange. It worked well for her on a guided tour of Europe.

YMMV, of course

we just got back from a trip to Spain. Very glad I didn't pay what T-Mobile wanted for their data/phone pass. I used vodafone, and although it wasn't always fast, it seemed to do the job and was cheap:

I used Movistar last year in Barcelona, Mallorca, and San Sebastian. No issues and I justify the team sponsorship
