SRAM DUB spacer question

I’ve got a Surly I’m building up. 73mm BB shell.

I’m trying to install GX DUB cranks. The manual calls for 4.5mm spacer on the drive side. However, the alignment seems to be way off. The crank arm clearance is 13mm on the drive side and 6mm on NDS. On the cranks I took off, it was around 7-8mm either side.

Do I need to play with the spacers? Maybe 3mm on DS and 2mm on NDS. Or something like that.

EDIT: never mind. Found the issue. The person I purchased the cranks from failed to tell me they were the Wide version.

So what spacer setup did you end up using?

Also, when spacing is in doubt, just setup with the proper chainline.

The solution is exactly what the manual calls for, for wide cranks. 3mm NDS and 7.5mm DS. But that’s too wide for my knees. So I’m going to sell and buy regular/non-Wide GX cranks.
