OT: First coronavirus case of unknown origin confirmed in the USA

Apparently, it is a person from Solano county who is being treated in Sacramento. I am going to go and buy lots of potatoes, frozen dinners, and pasta tomorrow.

Travis AFB is in Solano County. I expect the CDC will be looking closely at that possible link.

I get what you’re saying, but given a two week incubation period, I’d hazard a guess that there will be far more cases where the source is very difficult to trace...

as mentioned in our local Press Democrat newspaper today.

Mike Pence has it under complete control.

I think this may get pretty bad for the next couple of months. I decided to stock up about a week ago. It has been pretty interesting to watch food storage prices climb over the last two weeks.

Lightbulb

Nothing is ever wrong with cases of water, lots of non-perishable healthy food, and plenty of prescription medicine on-hand.
Goodness knows that I could survive on protein smoothies, oatmeal, rice, beans, and canned soup for a very L-O-N-G time.

Anybody is a seismic zone in California should have their earthquake kit ready anyways. Just an excuse to eat some old granola bars.

Wink

We have a loaded avocado tree, loaded orange tree, lemons, 5 toilets, a hot tub, a fountain, but sadly, no weapons to protect it all from panicking crazies.

This new thing is really hard to catch up and is easy to transmit aswell. That new case worries me because that guy got the disease from somewhere and the dude sure got contact with a lot of people before getting any symptoms. They need to crack that case out quick.

I work for the school system, if cases start happening at my county wonder what the school system will do... i was teasing my wife tonite... "what about 1 month self quarantined??", she works from home but she did not like the idea either... school gonna have to close if one of two cases show up... this thing is going to be a problem.

The most problematic issue is that if you are infected you have to be responsible aswell, some people dont give a rat a$$ you know... personally we arent prepared for self quarantine, but if that's what needs to be done... well it has to happen you know.

unknown source is what's concerning

the known patient isn't patient zero--he/she got it from exposure, and that person(s) are out exposing others. seems inevitable to spread. I remember being really annoyed as a child at school when sick kids came to school and were coughing and sneezing on everyone/thing. But now I know those kids had nowhere else to go, no one to care for them at home. Given the number of folks living paycheck to paycheck, I don't think many will have the ability to self-quarantine. Even if they did, since the symptoms are vague/non-specific and younger folks aren't "that sick", and can even spread it before symptoms make them even think they may have COVID19, so it seems pretty difficult to control... I'd not be surprised if enemies of the US deliberately exposed people and sent them here...hope not

Donald Trump says not to worry and Mike Pence is in charge. USA has the best health care system in the world and we totally don’t rely on important stuff from China or anywhere else that has the virus too. There’s no possible way Coronavirus could get out of hand or impact the economy. Everything is going to be taken care of.

I for one am going to pick up some extra food and supplies this week.
