The last few days I have been slowly easing back on my bike after three weeks off. I did a ride on Saturday called Atlas 4000. http://www.texas4000.org/event/atlas-ride/

Atlas Ride - Texas 4000
www.texas4000.org
The ATLAS Ride is a 500+ person cycling event where supporters can ride the first 25, 50 or 70 miles with the Texas 4000 team.

70 UT students set off on a 70-day journey from Austin to Alaska in support of cancer research. A big crowd of cyclists and friends showed up to support them on Day 1 when they ride from Cedar Park to Lampasas. I was one of them. Below are some screen grabs from my bike camera.

This is my friend Chris Condit, one of the guys who started this event some 14 years ago!

A lot of the alumni, riders who have done it in previous years showed up in full force to support their fellow riders for 2017.

Many proud parents and siblings donned cycling clothes and got on their bikes in support of their special rider.

After being off the bike for three weeks, I have gotten fat and slow but fortunately I drafted behind these ladies and we rode at a reasonable pace all the way to the finish.

At the finish line, a bunch of folks lining the street cheering and congratulating the riders for completing Day 1 - Cedar Park to Lampasas 50 miles.

Very cool program they have there. I looked into it a little bit after I saw a huge group of them at the LBJ 100 ride.

Rode up some local logging roads to see what was at the top, it was a beautiful day!
The pano:

Proof of bike:

Just on the other side of the summit I got a nice view of our mountain - although the clouds ruined it a little bit.

Then a nice trail ride downhill back to the homestead:

This was all on a 20 miler riding from my house. Nice place to live (at least for the next four months until the rains start again).

The end of the road. California's "Central Coast", above Lompoc, and looking out over Vandenberg AFB. Clouds didn't quite want to burn off to be able to see the ocean.

edit: Argh. I don't know why the photo's rotated. It's not on my OS.
