Easton ec90 crank adjustment

What am I missing here?

I installed using the Easton bb, preload thing on the nds, 2 spacers on the ds. Every time I put any torque on the ds fixing bolt, the bb gets very tight. I ordered extra 1mm spacers and tried a few on the ds, still seems the same.

Any tips on getting this setup right?

Tia,
Ari

Is your preload collar on right? You want to loosen the tiny fixing bolt on the preload collar and rotate it to give you the least amount of preload/most amount of slack, install everything, and then use the preload cap to take out the play.

You don't need the 1mm spacers you added, take them all out. If your BB is too tight there's too much preload. Spacers add more preload to the bearings. You want less load.

My EA90 crankset installed this week spins slowly, too much so it feels like.

Refer to https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/00...stallation.pdf

You need to have enough spacers for a total BB width of 92.6 +/-1 mm.

Seems like removing all of the spacers made the adjustment better, although it seems a sluggish bb overall. That might be because of new bearings though.

I have had the plastic sleeve between the bearing cause some binding issues, especially with the Easton bottom bracket

Easton / race face bbs are notorious for being utter crap

Try with a different BB if possible, and if not then you might meet to reinstall the preload and back it all the way out / towards the arm.

Just to clarify, preload adjustment is not done with spacers. It’s done with the preload collar. When you turn it one way it expands, the other way it contracts.

I agree....if feeling like crap means feeling sluggish to spin in the stand when installed properly. Doesn’t make much difference on the road but not ideal.
Using another bb is the remedy.

Just a little sluggish, but it is brand new. Will see how it breaks in. Thanks everyone
