That's right, and it's not considered to be in the truly 'rude' category. Now, there are other British epithets the are rude. The f, w, t and c words . Best to avoid using those in polite company.

Havenā€™t read the whole thread but I think a sign of ā€˜theseā€™ times. A LOT of stress right now...even if the two elephants in the room, pandemic and election, were NOT happening together, they would produce stress....mixed together, ouch.

I havenā€™t seen this much divisiveness since the late 60ā€™s, early 70ā€™s...and I think not surprising that it bleeds over to something as inconsequential as buying and riding a bicycle.

It's the internet, silly. the simple premise of the nameless, faceless no recourse anonymity offered on an online forum is the culprit. That, and opinions are like assholes, and there are plenty here to go around.

One more call for a catch-all, free-for-all, off topic place to excrete all this would help.

I think a political one would be fun too. That keeps it from spilling over to the real topics this place is meant for. Mods could simply dump the offensive ones there like their own little quarantine.

Most other forums have them. That way the freaks can let their flags fly and everyone else can concentrate on bicycles.

I love this place. The wealth of knowledge and how far it stretches, differing viewpoints, the experience levels....it is a great place to learn about our hobby. The governing of it has to be a big burden for the mods, and bless their hearts for doing as good of a job as they do.

This site is doing just fine. We bicker (Iā€™m guilty).

The largest social site in the US/world has so much worse of a problem itā€™s actually radicalizing folks. In comparison bickering is fine.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. But now that *you* did, let me tell you why you're wrong...

For one or more of the following reasons, and at various point in time, they apply to...Every. Single. One. Of. Us. Everyone!

1) I am right, you are wrong.

2) I am more superior than you.

3) I know more than you.

4) I am on higher moral ground.

5) I am always right.

6) I can say what I want, nobody is watching or holding me accountable.

7) I hate you.

8) I blame the whole world...except me. It's their fault.

9) I don't care.

10) I despise you.

11) I totally disagree with you.

12) I like to judge people...except myself.

13) I am an idiot.

14) I am an a$$hole.

15) I have a vandetta.

16) I take on a different persona on the internet.

17) I have a lot of pent-up anger and frustrations, since they have nowhere to go, why don't I take it out on you!

18) I live with guilt and fear.

19) I make a lot of (bad and unverified) assumptions about you.

20) I hate myself.

On and on and on .....I am sure you can come up with some of your own.

The key is...don't think you are immune. I am not talking about other people. I am talking about.....YOU!

This isn't an argument. You're just contradicting everything I say.
