Lauren's still active, I think, she is working out of a facility in El Segundo - facebook business page is best contract info I think. I wonder where Steven Carr ended up after Bike Effect closed?

I’ve wondered that myself. There is no way he did not land at another bike store, he is too talented and passionate about his work.

I wasn't impressed with Lauren's fitting. I complained of lower back pain and she suggested I raise my bars higher (wrong) and at the time I was riding a 100mm stem and a bunch of stack. I'm now several cm lower and running something like 5cm more reach than when I got fitted with her. She tried to strongly push the Selle Flow saddle on me perplexed that I didn't have numbness issues with non cutout saddles. She'll give you shoe shims to make you feel like you got something out of your fit. Oh, and back when I got fit she had no idea what stack and reach was. Careful just going off yelp reviews.

I recommend Nate Koch in Long Beach if you want a performance fit. I've gotten TT bike fits and double checked my road fit with him. He uses retul and is attuned to helping make you faster and more aero (coming from his background on the track).

I would use Banning over Bike Effect any day, but you'd have to convince him to come out of fit retirement. Find him on Facebook.
