What a bunch of dweebs.
I've met and interacted with many people from the forum over the years. Mostly good people that I would share a beer with anytime. The problem imo with other structures like FB and the like is that people and information are splintered and cubbyholed for the most part. Not easliy searchable and to spread out over the platforms. Every person is encouraged to have their little space, which is too much work to try and see everything. That's also why, again imo, that forums that split up into too many subforums tend to dry up over time. The forum structure brings everyone to one spot to post and share. Threads consolidate information that is generally easily searchable. Participation over time builds reputations for knowledge and honesty....and in a relitively few instances, dishonesty. I still prefer the forum concept and as time goes by I'm actually spending less and less time on other social media platforms because of the bickering, vitriol, and algorithm manipulation. Anyway, I'm proud to hang around with a bunch of uncool people like y'all. W. |

Concur with all of the points @William made above.
Far easier to read detailed content front-to-back arrayed here. Other approaches are too "fleeting" so good info gets buried. |
