The game in Spain is played mainly in the brain?

Sorry for indulging in my proclivity for bantering; will do my best to limit it. To be fair, I'm nowhere near clever enough to come up with that, but I got a good laugh out of it.

To be sure, there is a lot of good that comes out of brain games though. All that usage of space to wear down opponents, etc. It's just that ESP just need someone a bit more clinical than Morata when playing against stout teams like Sweden. But high-conversion strikers are rarities.

Also, I'm sure you still remember, but it's not just a brain game. ESP did trounced GER 6 - 0 last year.

This is some grandmaster chess level of s***housery going on in the Comebol qualifying.

The Brazil v Argentina match got called off barely 7 minutes into the match, with Brazilian health officials saying that four Argentinian EPL players should not have been allowed inside the country.

Seems like quite the s*** thing to do, given the Brazil had all the time up to match time to do this.

The real reason why Brazil pulled this stunt during the match, I think, is that ARG was able to get some EPL clubs to release players, whereas BRA was unsuccessful in persuading EPL clubs to do the same. Sheer madness.

It's the Pep Derby!

One would h8 - 2 see a repeat of what Bayern unleashed on Barça the last time around. Fortunately for the latter, all of its outfield players are likely to hustle on defense.

In other news, Man U had a shocker at YoungBoys. I'll leave it to you good folks to come up with something punny using the name of the stadium in question.

Btw, do Germans with that last name get teased?

The meaning of the name in Anglosaxonian eras is not unknown, but it is worse if you are from Tittmoning, Petting or Wixhausen.

The Bayern Barca Match is a one sided affair... Strangely, it says more about the current gap between those teams or Barcas state than the 8-2 two years ago

You are right. Things broke Bayern’s way that night when Bayern won 8-2, but the margins were tight.

Tonight was more workmanlike, but the result was never in doubt.

Get in!

Henderson strikes one that would make a peak Steven Gerrard proud.

What a game at Anfield! Quite a proper European match between two European Cup royalties.

ETA: a third-generation Maldini played for AC Milan tonight. Again, talk about footballing royalties.

@wc1934, what’s up with the bald eagle as mascot for SS Lazio? Bald eagles aren’t native to Europe, and the Lazio mascot should be a golden eagle anyway.

Also, hope you are enjoying the start of Napoli’s season.
