Crypto’s Rapid Move Into Banking Elicits Alarm in Washington

“The boom in companies offering cryptocurrency loans and high-yield deposit accounts is disrupting the banking industry and leaving regulators scrambling to catch up.

By Eric Lipton and Ephrat Livni
Sept. 5, 2021, 3:02 a.m. ET
BlockFi, a fast-growing financial start-up whose headquarters in Jersey City are across the Hudson River from Wall Street, aspires to be the JPMorgan Chase of cryptocurrency.

It offers credit cards, loans and interest-generating accounts. But rather than dealing primarily in dollars, BlockFi operates in the rapidly expanding world of digital currencies, one of a new generation of institutions effectively creating an alternative banking system on the frontiers of technology.”

Geese Louise, not to brag but.... I'm glad I traded a bunch of my alts into SHIB when it still had 5 zero's. It's probably not to late to hop on this run. Not a financial advisor of course

OT: Ray, how's your Bitcoin investment going?

https://www.techspot.com/news/91937-...ers-study.html

“NBER found that the top 10 percent of mining operations control around 90 percent of the Bitcoin mining capacity. What’s more, just 0.1 percent of miners (about 50 operations) are responsible for half of all mining output.”

Interesting.

My biggest problem with altcoins is knowing when to get out... with SHIB, do i get out now and take good gains? Or is this thing going up to pennies where i'll make a fortune... i've looked at altcoins as gambling for me, tossing a few hundred dollars here and there, and if i make a ton, it will be fun... otherwise i'll lose a few hundred...

i didn't get in to SHIB at 5 zeros, but a few days ago, and still its been nice... curious if it'll keep going or what the deal is... i figure if i can turn my $50 into thousands, its a fun gamble...

I take alts seriously if I like their projects for real world usage. Meme coins on the other hand is pure gambling. Having said that I sure do wish I didn't cash out early on DOGE because yea, I'm one of those who would have had a million if I didn't. In the end though no one looses who collects any amount of profit.

SHIB is a lot like DOGE except it's not strictly a meme coin as they are moving into the NFT space and like DOGE it is being accepted as currency in some places.

I know exactly what you meant though. It's simply impossible to know. SHIB will never get to 1 cent but they have one hell of an active community and it's having a wild ride at this moment. I don't have anything in SHIB that I cannot afford to lose so I'm just going to hang on.

I'm up 4x on Doge and 3x on Etherium. Both are totally speculative since we are in a weird market and I sure didnt bet the house on them.

DOGE is falling and my guess is that a lot of people are selling DOGE to buy SHIB. Doge is at 56% sell right now and SHIB is at 84% buy.

I'd still hold on to DOGE though and in this dip maybe even a good time to buy. A DOGE whale must have taken a big dump about two hours ago because it spiked down to .22. Oops I just missed that one. I was out riding my bike
