The three cars I've had, seemingly a hundred years ago, that I remember with great fondness in no particular order: 59 Austin-Healey 100-6, 58 Sunbeam Alpine, 56(ish) Morris Minor convertible.

I've had a bunch that I miss;

1982, 928 porsche
1969 camaro pace car
1970 914-6 porsche
I forget the year, 930 porsche

But most of all; My dad built me my first car. At 16, he gave me a 1957 chevy nomad. All tricked out, black lacquer paint with flames, 427 motor and button tuck int. I miss it b/c it was a great car, but mostly my father and myself had a great time working on it, and I miss him greatly!

2 come to mind...

  1. BMW 325i wagon ('92, E30), given its time, probably the best handling daily driver I ever owned and I am Mercedes guy. Last car in Germany before moving to the US, so no choice but to sell.
  2. MB 300SD ('84, W126) gold over dark brown, didn't get anymore "ghetto". Bought it when I lived in San Diego with 435K miles on it. One owner (pastor) who supposedly drove every day 110 miles one way to work. I put another 30,000 on it without any repairs, just regular service. After moving back to Chicago, I drove it up to IL in an epic road trip with 2 of my friends from Germany. When the A/C went out a few months later in 2001, I decided to donate it. Found out a few years ago through a carfax VIN search that it is still running in Florida.

Early 911 prices have gone INSANE. I was on the hunt for a 73.5 CIS-T for a while and passed on a car just 4 years ago that had everything I would've ordered from the factory back in '73. Car was a condition 1 or 2...passed on it 'cause $45k was too rich an asking price. That car is probably worth 3x that today.

didn't wanna sell it, shouldn't have sold it, but the rust and my wallet begged to differ. Sold it for 350€, current market value would be, even in the horrible condition it was under the shiny paintjob, more like 5000, and a good one closer to 20.... But it's not about the money, good Srs.1 cars are getting hard to find.

1968 BMW 2002 here. I owned it for 11 years, brought it up to TI specs and worked the suspension. It was a great, great car.
I once had a friend whom I drove around relatively regularly and said that "It may only go 60, but it will go 60 around anything".

Fulvias are sweet. I haven't owned one yet, but they're on the list.

Tell me about it! I've known where my old car is for at least 15 years. I approached the owner about buying it 5 years ago. He wanted $30K for it at the time (a nice, solid #2 car). I wasn't willing to pay that much for a car that I had sold 15 years before (20 years ago now) for $5500 (sold to help pay for graduate school). I was willing to go $20K but not $30K. Unfortunately, long hood prices continued to climb. I approached him again about a year later willing to pay the $30K. Well, his price had increased to $50K! Within a year, he called me back and said that he was seriously thinking about selling it but now wanted $70K. I gave up looking for a longhood at that point and ended up with a 3.2 Carrera instead. The last I heard, his asking price on the E had increased to a bit over $100K on the car. It seems that longhood prices have mostly stabilized and flattened (except for rare or exceptional cars) over the last 6 months, but they're still more than I'm willing to pay for one at this point. So, the later IB cars will have to do.

It was a sweet ride - excellently engineered, very refined for its vintage, as all pre-Fiat Lancias were. Fast enough to play along in todays traffic. In the US, i imagine driving one would be scary. It even looked tiny when parked between a couple of Golf IIIs didn't need a heated rear window because one could easily just turn around from the drivers seat and wipe it clean

Prices for certain vehicles have gone mad, again. I knew i should have bought that Flaminia Touring Superleggera Convertibile for 15k€ back in 2000...

My first car was a 1967 Dodge Dart GT with a 273 V8 and 4 speed. I loved that car.
My other fav was a 1995 BMW M3 coupe W/5speed. I just got in to much trouble with that one tho. It was made to run and be run hard. It had a euro spec S50b30 at 280+ wheel HP and a limited slip rear. I would auto cross it and drive it back home.
I have had other bimmers since than but nothing compares to that beast.

Mid-80s Fiat SuperBrava was a hoot. Family friends loaned it to me for the summer to go back and forth to work. Since it was on the business and I worked for them it was a freebie.
