Lowest Common Denominator

Lowest Common Denominator
Definitions:
(a) The most basic, least sophisticated level of taste, sensibility or opinion among a group of people.
(b) A lowering of quality from a desire to find common ground for many people.

Seems like some are striving for this distinction based on the posts from the "Some Things in Life Are Just Wrong" thread.

Is that where you want this forum to go?

can make one uncomfortable. Some are better at it than others.

I will stand by what I have said before. This forum is not really about freedom of speech. We exist here in this forum inside a type of "Benevolent Dictatorship". We are guests and we should remember that. Civility needs to be maintained, at least at certain levels.

agreed Saab-

Serotta has the final say here-

Considering the thread has not been closed or pulled. . .

well - draw your own conclusions

I hope that this thread does not deteriorate as some do.

Freedom of speech is an important right that we all have in this country, but within that framework, I would think that our communications, no matter what the content is, should be delivered with understanding, sensitivity, and compassion to others.

The Serotta Forum does set some small guidelines as to what is considered acceptable within their domain. It is easy to maintain those guidelines if we simply respect the feelings and thoughts of others.

What's the purpose here? To see how far one can push the envelope before being closed down? I for one will be adding dirt to my ignore list because I for one am no longer interested in reading anything that he might wish to submit nor wish to dignify his contributions by doing so. Garbage in garbage out.

Well said. One caveat: there is no "freedom of speech" protection attached to a private enterprise such as a private forum or a business (among others). Try telling your boss how little you think of him/her and see what he/she thinks of your "freedom of speech rights".

you probably wont see this since you are adding me to your ignore list-

but

I only point out that the people with the final say about the threads have not pulled it- again draw your own conclusion

I'm surprised that a thread was started to talk about the merits of another thread.

Lighten up guys, go for a ride, have a beer, roll another one. I personally found nothing offensive in any of those pictures except for the homeless guy, that was just gross. But not as gross as actually being there, but that's what we call life.

yeah, taking a leak horizontally...

is perfect for a cycling-oriented message board. I vote for the dirtman to be the new administrator.

Done.
