OT: ordered a toy for myself

I'm not really a nostalgic person but I just ordered a reproduction of one of my favorite childhood toys...the Corgi Aston Martin D.B.5. I actually had the 2nd gen silver model but the original was gold.

I know many here were kids in the 60s so they may sympathize. I had lots of siblings so my parents rarely got us the pricey stuff. And my allowance really only made it to Matchbox territory, and later Hot Wheels. Same for Tonka trucks, we always seemed to get the less pricey knock offs. Corgi cars were always aspirational. However, the Bond car was the one I did manage to buy. Kinda silly but I'm looking forward to it's arrival!

Wow, deja vu. I had the 2nd gen silver! My parents took me on a very rare trip to NY to visit my sister in the early-mid 70s. I was allowed one small toy on our visit to FAO Schwartz. I bought the corgi. I know what I'm putting on ym xmas list.

I'm pretty sure that somewhere around here is a Matchbox E Jaguar and a D Type.

I loved Corgi and Dinky toys as a kid growing up in the 1960s. My grandmother would often bring me one when she returned from her travels. However, my favorite toys were 1/16 scale Ertl farm equipment replicas. Whether out of nostalgia or an eye for things that appreciate in value, my mother saved nearly all of my Ertl toys. As I approach retirement, I have cleaned them all up for display and started to collect them again. Heading to a farm toy show this weekend!

I know where you're comin' from, man. But we were still better than the kids who had Johnny Lightning cars.

I have the silver one, was suprised to lean the original was gold. Funny that the gold one costs more than the originals on ebay.. I also have the Dinky (I think they were dinky?) Thunderbirds and spent one Christmas about 15 years ago buying them plus the Tracy Island NOS for my son (yes I'm a nerd also) which of course, I was more impressed than he was...

Here you go: Thunderbirds: The Complete Series

The Dinky TB2 was more of a bluish-green, and the Corgi was the bright green.....

I did this with Italian made replicas for my boys but kinda for me too. They ripped them down then painted and reconfigured them, like with gullwing doors on an e-type drophead coupe

I kept a few as a junkyard in a cabinet.
