Orbea Orca OMX 2023

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for information on the new Orca OMX, does anyone have any feedback on the riding experience, handling and comfort of this bike?
If possible, I would like your comments on the difference you found with other bikes you use or have used.
Thanks in advance.

Isn't the 2024 the new design? The 2023 is more aero and a bit heavier, but a top notch bicycle. A bunch of the GCN crew used it as their personal bikes and David Arthur gave a very favorable review of it.

I had one very briefly. The bike felt fast and reasonably comfortable. It fits a pretty wide tire and seemed like a decent all arounder.

I own the 2024 OMX model with Force and since I went Myo (custom paint and components) I chose the 45mm deep wheels almost entirely because I think they look cooler (vain, I know). It absolutely feels like a race bike in the best ways. I guess it’s not super aero but it’s likely a bit more so than my round tubed metal bikes. Either way it feels to me like a modern racy bike should.

It is definitely not uncomfortable with the stock 28mm Vittoria’s on it. I thought I might bump up to a larger tire to buy a bit more cush but I haven’t found the need. To be fair the roads by me tend to be in pretty good shape and I only have a few hundred miles on it.

I think it’s a wonderful looking but too, so there’s that. In short, I’m really liking it.

I’m not here a ton during the day but I’m happy to answer questions about it.

Thanks so much for the feedback.
I would be very interested in understanding the level of handling on descent and whether it can be considered a frame suitable for long rides (granfondo).
Honestly, I'm in trouble whether to get the Orca OMX or the Bianchi Specialissima 2020.

Two different bikes. From owning both I would go Specialissima everyday of the week. Such a fantastic bicycle.

My Orbea Orca OMX 2023

Couple of Specialissima I have owned

2018

Now replaced with 2024

I have no experience with the Bianchi and most of my recent road bikes have been custom metal bikes but I have had quite a few iterations of Tarmacs, up to the SL6 gen. I am not super duper picky about how my bikes handle so long as they don't do anything scary. About as detailed as I tend to get about a road bike's manners is do I think about it at all when I am hitting some twisties at speed? The Orca feels very neutral to me and I have no issues with how it rides.

I would say it was on the quicker handling end of the spectrum though I would not hesitate to bring it on a very long ride. I might size up the tires if I was going to be sitting on it for 8 hours but that might be true for more or less any bike I own. I ride a 60cm fwiw.

If you're in the mid-Hudson Valley region of NY and you ride a 60cm you're more than welcome to take mine out for a test ride.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
For the avoidance of doubt, I am referring to the latest version of Orbea Orca, the one released in 2023 and the penultimate version of the Specialissima, the one released in 2020.
