I have similar story had one in college kept it for almost 10 years after that gave it to my brother-in-law who didn't ride it much at all over many years. Last year I ask him for the bike back and he told me he just sold it a month before. SMH

Yep, sometimes it's like browsing NETFLIX to decide what to watch. Takes me 30 minutes to decide, LOL!

1985 Fuji Opus III - The Real Beauty of my Collection
Bokeh-licious photos. Dreamy build. Rather hard to fault any of what’s going on here.
Just noticed after looking again how short the chainstays are. How’s it ride? Looks like it would be rather responsive and agile. So good.

This thread brings back memories . . . First really good bike I bought was a 1973 Fuji Finest. In 1974 I started a small bike shop in Iowa and sold Fuji bikes almost continuously until I sold my store in 1994 (we'd moved to Kansas in the late 1970's).
In the mid-1980's, Fuji really was one of the finest production bike companies importing bikes into the US. At that time, the US dollar was really strong against the YEN, and probably peaked in 1985 and 1986. You could get really fabulous production bikes from Japan (Fuji and Miyata in particular) at that time. By 1987 though, it was all beginning to change. Production shifted to Taiwan and quality tanked. Now of course, Taiwan factories make nice bikes, but that wasn't the case in 1987. Sorry to ramble . . . This Opus was the pinnacle of the Fuji world. Beautiful bike. |

That’s a stunner. A bit older than I normally look at but this caused me to add a new search agent to my eBay and CL accounts. The crankset is nice, some of the modern designers should revisit the drawing board after looking at this!
