took a spill, need fork for CAAD 10
First time for everything - took a spill today on Cape Cod, broad daylight, didn't hit anything - wearing fairly thick gloves and may have knocked the bars as I returned my right hand to the brake hood, not really sure what caused it. Banged my knee a bit. My front wheel was yanked out of the dropouts, bending the skewer and shearing a small bit off the bottom of the dropout due to the lawyer lip. Wheel has slight wobble but rideable back 3-4 miles to where I'm staying. That's a bummer since it is an Old Potatoe wheel just months old. I'm definitely going to replace the fork, so looking for suggestions. Don't see an obvious replacement online from C'Dale. Ideas welcome! Thanks.

Depends on model. I have yet to see anything after market that will look right.
Sometime C'dale has NOS but you have to check with a dealer. Sometimes you can find them on eBay. If you are trying to match a particular year's paint scheme that could be really difficult. BK

Maybe a stupid question- how might I assess whether the damage is repairable?

I've never had a close look at a CAAD 10 but have owned at least 4 CAAD9s. Does CAAD 10 have a tapered fork?

Not repairable. Or no reputable carbon repair shop will do it (few do rear dropouts). Take the fork to your Cannondale dealer. My local dealer has a device to test crashed forks.

I have a cannondale fork that may or may not work. Do you have pictures of what the original fork looked like?
If there was enough force to pull the wheel out I wouldn't trust the fork anymore. |

I got one from cannondale experts when I needed one. I think they're the "only" source for some odd reason.

it's a tapered fork....1 1/8-1 1/4.

here's what the fork looks like
It's a tapered steerer. Probably about nine inches of steerer. Thanks!

Keep in mind CDale uses the odd 372-crown-to-axle length. I suggest keeping an eye out on Ebay for a HiMod fork. Also, the fork rake on smaller sizes changed around 2012/2013 .... another thing to mind.
Glad you are okay. |

Many good comments here.
I think the fork on the CAAD12 is the same geo, so should work. There are a few threads on this on the interwebs. |

^CAAD12 fork wont be optimal. IIRC someone on WW (Muffin Man?) put a CAAD12 fork on his 10. The new fork has an integrated (molded) crown race for the lower bearing. As for the EVO suggestion, the geos are slightly different.
OP, hard to see damage in your pic. Interesting data point: a few months ago on the World Famous Montrose Ride, a rider crossed wheels at 35mph with a teammate. He went down in one of the most spectacular crashes I've ever seen. The rider essentially face-planted and the impact was as violent as you can imagine. I was about 5 wheels back and at some point the only object I had to avoid was a front wheel which had bounced about 15 feet into the air. Short story long, there were no life threatening injuries (tho many lacerations) and the wheel was put back into the fork and bike ridden home. As far as I know, the rider is still on the same bike (and racing). Bike is a Cannondale EVO. Get the fork checked out and YMMV and Happy Black Friday. This is really helpful. I'll take a better photo of the dropout when I get home and post it. Lot to learn here!

Here's a couple of photos of the damage to the fork. In the light of day, not repairable IMO. So, looking for a replacement!
