My first Serotta and it rides amazing, but may be a touch too small for me -- I usually ride a custom-fit 58cm Della Santa. Thinking of swapping out the white saddle and bar tape for either dark brown or black. The Chorus groupset works perfectly fine as this is meant to be more of an "around town" bike for me.

Welcome to the party - that is a beautiful CSI! I might like that color better than my cha-ching green even..

We'll need to see pics of that Della Santa too. Rolland is one of the more revered builders around these parts, as you've probably seen.

Saw that eggplant CSI on eBay and loved it. Great find, enjoy it!

Yeah, the original seller did a good job capturing how nice the paint job looks in the photo. In person she's just as sweet. If a slick 58cm comes up though ... I probably wouldn't say no.

Is there a Della Santa thread here by any chance? Didn't know y'all had a thing for Roland here. I'm born & raised in Reno so kind of a given my first road bike had to be a DS ... also lived in NYC for years so seemed appropriate to have a Serotta as well.

Just post it up in the custom gallery - I don't think there's a builder spotlight for him..

There are a few active folks here who have Della Santa frames.

I ordered this one in June of 1996, and it showed up in July-ish.

Here is it after an upgrade to Chorus 11 last spring - still an amazing ride 23 years later!

Thanks Hardlyrob, your info confirms my CSI sn- 749 to be a 1996 also. I suspected this but wasn't sure. Good to know for sure. Yours is a beauty and I also prefer a modern drivetrain on the older frames for riding. I put a Shimano 6800 on mine a couple years ago.

Hey Farmall guy - our CSI's may well have been painted at the same time - mine's a pearl white to red fade - with the white as the undercoat. Since your serial number is only two away from mine - 747 vs. 749, and they're both pearl white - its possible they were painted together. Either way, yours and mine were made in July 1996.
Cheers!

That's pretty cool! So I have a question for you, Have you found anything that works good as touch for the pearl white? I tried some of the automotive pearl whites but they are no good. Thanks

Farmallguy;

The best luck I've had with touch-ups for bikes has been with model paints. There's a good variety of colors, and lots of metallics, and some pearls. They are also so cheap that you can buy several to mix and match.

For whatever reason with all the miles on that frame there are very few scratches / rock dings - so I haven't looked at pearl white specifically.

Thanks much for posting. A big help for anyone who thinks they may have a 1996 - especially because of the mid year build date, and reinforces my guess that my CSI (958) is in fact a 1997.

Wish we could get more original owners of all models to post.

SO true. There is a thread in the catalogues section where owners can post their bike's serial numbers and year of manufacture.

I would encourage folks to add to the list for all Serotta Models.

Okay, tried my best to do research on here but I couldn't come to any sort of 100% conclusion. My serial number is #1517 and it has a 25th Anniversary sticker on it ... does this mean it's a '97 for sure?

I think I found a confirmed serial #1283 from 1996, and #1828 from 2000, but nothing else 100% confirmed in-between.

Anyone have any ideas on this one? Cheers!
