aftermarket cranks with campy record 12

2 quick questions:
1. Are aftermarket 11 speed cranks/chainrings (e.g. praxis) compatible with campy 12 speed chains and front derailleurs?
2. Is the distance between the two front chainrings the same as it is with 11 speed?

thanks!

I've asked the question to the powers that be, the party line will be NO, as the internal width of the chain is now 5.18 against 5.36. Once I get the proper answer I'll post up.

Yes youโ€™ll be able to make it work, EPS will work as you can adjust the throw. But mechanical might take a bit of a botch to get to the 8mm from 7.7mm. The pro teams are running Power2Max with a modified spider to take the new rings.

Well, not many(none) have seen it yet and narrower chain but like 10s crank with 11s and 9s crank with 10s and 'ratcheting friction' LH Campag 12s shifter, I'm 'guessing' it'll work. I'm also guessing the CRs are a wee bit closer together.

I have ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

The chainring spacing is more akin to 11spd vs 11spd HO. From Italy SRM and P2M are working with Campag on ring shape and design, Stages were told to piss off, Campag will have there own power meter that can be retro fitted to the cranks with the housing on the inside.

Actually, one thing I'm interested in finding out is if Campy will have a thru axle cassette body in the works yet.... some of my friends with disc brake bikes want to know!

You mean a TA wheelset from Campag/Fulcrum with a Campag FHB? Campag had 12mm TA axle ends..this page 122...so I assume TA(12mm) and Campag FHB is possible.

6 months later, any new information out there that can shed light on my questions?:

1. Are aftermarket 11 speed cranks/chainrings (e.g. praxis) compatible with campy 12 speed chains and front derailleurs?
2. Is the distance between the two front campy 12 speed chainrings the same as it is with 11 speed?

thanks again!!

CRs on 12s cranks are closer together..BUT considering the LH shifter of Campag still 'ratcheting friction'..no problem using a 11s crank with Campag 12..front der and chain. Make sure chain in lowest gear(small ring and big cog) is really close to inner cage of front der and fder cable TIGHT...to prevent chain to fder rub in highest gear(big ring, smallest cog)..3 clicks to big ring..is how it ought to work.

I don't see how 3 clicks on the LH shifter qualifies as ratcheting friction, but that said there is certainly some leeway with the adjustment. After using the 2018 shifters for awhile without the LH tension adjuster, I finally gave in and added the inline adjuster to my FD cable housing. That makes it easier to get the chain to drop to the small ring with one click.
