That is most remarkable and fun. The anal side me imagines vintage components in a distant, lonely garage missing their essential parts.

Do you have a blog of this that is shareable?

How long did this take?
It took some time for sure, Brazing the rooks was most time consuming, Other than toiling over which part would work for this and that. I will put better pics up on Flicker and share the page with a parts list- Bases are most all hub races, lots of old Campy MTB Campy U brake bosses.

Thanks for compliments - Was a fun project

I can't believe how great that is! I'm a chess enthusiast myself, although I'm almost two decades removed from my last official rated tournament. Yikes.

When I was in high school, in wood shop class, I attempted to make a wooden chess set on the lathe. I was about 2/3 done with it when the teacher advised me not to waste my time finishing, they were awful! You should have seen the crooked bishops, and I didn't even attempt to make the knights.... A career in woodcarving was not in the cards for me.

Wow, what a creative use of small parts. I love seeing repurposed bike parts but this takes the cake, thank you for sharing.

I'm in for the titanium version.

Seriously though, that is great. Another good side effect of the pandemic?

What about SRAM? Oh, wait I just realized SRAM would always lose.

Very nice work, awesome!

Love it! As a big campy and chess fan i would love to have it.
Not sure i would play my best chess with it but who cares!

The graphite / century finish side will be expensive to source .)
