Catch me up - why is 1st gen etap in demand?

I don’t get the eTap situation. I saw someone on FB asking $700 for levers and $500 for the FD! This is older technology that doesn’t work with the head units and AXS app and is 11 speed. AXS can be found for cheaper, has 12 speed cassettes for HG mount or just get an XDR for a lot of hubs/wheels. There are workaround options and 2x rings available and simpler compatibility if 1x.
