Peninsula Bay Area (CA) folk - what's the best shop in area to pack & ship a bike?
Need to get a bike packed & shipped from Redwood City, someone who knows what they're doing. Suggestions needed please.
Thanks! Last edited by 54ny77; 03-08-2024 at 01:56 AM. |

Veloro - One man shop with someone who seems to know his stuff. Bought some Lake shoes from him. Seems nice but beyond that I don't really have more exp. But if it has to be in RWC I'd probably ring Veloro first. (my 2 cents)
Red Lantern Cycles maybe if it's really fancy bike. It's small one man shop. Matt knows his stuff. Lots of fancy stuff crammed into a small space. If the bike is a bit more precious I would 1st give Matt a ring and see if he has appetite for it Woodside Bikes - Just going off Google reviews, this seems like a good gamble for what looks like a bigger shop. Also looks to be more MTB oriented. Not sure if this was helpful. Good luck |

I’m very familiar with those first two shops mentioned and agree. I’d add Velotech in Palo Alto to the list of very competent, high end bike shops in the area that could likely assist.

Just got to Veloro and make it easy since he is in RWC. Gebhart is a good guy.
Matt (Red Lantern) and Tom (Velotech) can get it done too. All three of these shops are used to dealing in the $15k+ road bike world so packing a bike properly comes with that. Last edited by pdmtong; 03-08-2024 at 06:39 PM. |

Red Lantern deals with very high end bikes and I'd trust them.
Woodside Cycles in Menlo Park has a lot of nice bikes but they are very disorganized and the shop is messy, I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving anything nice there. I haven't been to their RWC shop. The Mikes Bikes in Palo Alto seems well run, same with Palo Alto Bicycles (linked to Jobst Brandt!). |

I've dealt with most of these shops. My best experience has been with Veloro. My go-to shop on the peninsula.
