Rene Herse / Compass tires. But I like the way they ride (or is it in my head?)!

It is all in your head, they are overpriced trash and you have been brain washed by Jan.

(please read sarcastically)

I don't feel guilty about this but it does add up pretty fast.

Recently had to purchase a few bikes for insurance replacement and could’ve saved a small fortune since some didn’t even need replaced as the primary bike was complete when purchased (for $7K )…I really didn’t need any of these…

Muc off iridescent tubeless valves
Sram clicks for remote axs shifting on the bar
Skin grows back saddle bag
Oneup 100mm pump w/ v2 tool insert
Spur bell
Roval terra seatpost (it really does work!)
Silca nastro bar tape
Zipp xplr handlebar

I'm saying nothing.

A Caad/105 bike is all I really need to get 99.999% of riding done that I do. Everything else is an overindulgence.

Really though. I blame this place (and VSalon). I've learned so much over the years. And I've also spent so much over the years. This place is like a drug.
It's been the best! And, the worst. And, no regrets!

I also blame Clean39T.

My eroica "costume" (actually "costumes" since I can't decide on which jersey, cap and shoes to wear on prom day). Yellow embroidered "Caffe Asso" (Ace Coffee, a coffee bistro somewhere in Bergamo that I aspire to visit someday) with a card-deck style spade logo. My wife gleefully insists the name will be interpreted negatively on the roads of California. Paired with a matching yellow cap selected during late night insomnia surfing ebay, advertising some italian Gelati or other that I've never eaten.

-or-

Plain red retro wool SS jersey, no graphics but perfectly matched to my frame color. Still looking for the "right" cap to go with this one.

And several pairs of retro toe-clip shoes. None fit quite right, all look like ballet slippers only slightly smelling of moldy leather. Prepared to "make do" with modern shoes retrofitted with adaptation toe clip cleats if I have to, but not giving up quite yet on the re-enactment shoes just yet.

All quite ridiculous

How about this one?

I bought one when I had my '89 Casati...then I learned that I was older than middle age!

Stumbled into a NOS 350mm Campy seatpost.
What the heck. I needed an offset post. It was cheaper than an Enve. Plus it’s Italian.
Then there’s that set of NOS Neutron Ultras in the basement....

I'd say committing to a Schmidt SONdeluxe SL connectorless dyno for a recent build qualifies ($350, yikes) when a standard unit from any of the other manufacturers would have been fine for my application and saved my ~$200. Now I need a second for another wheelset

Hopp Components carbon fiber "body part for sram XX1 eagle AXS controller + pin". I saved like 8 grams on a humid day. If only I could get black titanium bolts for the mounting bracket.

Love it, some day I’d like to request a list of exotic parts you’ve vetted and deem fit for the bike

Schmolke seatpost, handlebar and barplugs in carbon fiber weave. Unlike the Hopp the weight savings is noticeable.
