I pretty much only buy Park Tools. Even when I know cheaper options get the job done just as well.

Oh boy. Where do I start. I guess with this would be a good starting point.
Add in the numerous Darimo, EEbrakes, THM, Berk, Lightweight items. Yea I am going to hide in a dark room now. |

I spent $225 on a Yak cycling jersey. It is now on sale for $157. Seems like a luxury spend, a lot of money for a LS jersey. It is one of the better pieces of garment I have, well made. I have many of Kora products for backpacking.
Yak fiber is actually down (hollow fiber), is warmer than merino, and wicks better and absorbs less moisture. Some say it is softer than merino but it depends on the merino processing. Definitely soft but not as soft as cashmere but close. https://www.koraoutdoor.com/products...=OrderlyEmails |

$400 skinsuits seem very ridiculous. I think I have 4 of them somewhere.

I agree! One on my Bob Jackson running 3x10, one on my wife's Salsa Casseroll running 3x9. One on the Bilenky tandem that I sold..

I would say:
1) $25 socks - it just feels great when you put on nice socks. 2) colour matching - seems dumb to want something different just because the finish is a bit different. I want a Nitto stem and post for an upcoming build but have a Ritchey classic setup sitting here in mint shape. Must resist the Nitto… 2) handmade vs production when unnecessary: I had a Kona Sutra that I thought was an excellent bike then decided to sell it to basically get a great framebuilder build the same thing. I will have spent 3x+ on the frameset for 10% more performance but I am indulging myself. 3) relating to (3), my battered Redline CX bike is amazing and I will not get rid of it, but that is for nostalgic reasons as well. When I ride it, I cannot imagine that a Hampsten would ride much better (and that has been my comparison). |

I bought a pair of Hover S-Works bars the other day, with no specific target bike, yet...

For me it is incremental.
-Getting the Schmidt Son dynamo hub instead of Shimano. -Buying the $50 Spurcycle Bell instead of the cheaper $15 one. -Buying the extra light Rene Herse tires instead of the standard. |
