Question about Mavic Helium bearings...
I recently picked up a set of classic Heliums from a fellow forumite. However, one of the rear bearings is a bit on the crunchy side and I'd like to replace it/them.
Do you guys know if the Heliums use the same rear bearings as the Ksyriums? Thanks, Texbike Last edited by texbike; 07-22-2021 at 02:05 PM. Reason: rewrite post |

If I remember correctly there were a couple different versions of freehubs on the heliums so it likely depends on the exact vintage. Most Mavic wheels are easy to take apart to read bearing numbers on the seal, then just order from anywhere that has what you need.

Is it a bearing in the freehub body or in the hub shell? Helium used a 2 bearing setup in the FHB, unique to those(altho maybe the same as the same era hubs..can't remember). Hubs used just standard cart bearings..

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the guidance. It's the non-drive side hub shell bearing (at least it feels like it) and not the freehub. I'll take it apart this weekend and confirm. Texbike |

The original Helium that uses the Reflex/OPen Pro rims, that had the following bearings in it
(IDxODxW) Front: 6903 2RS - both sides of the hub shell (17x30x7) Rear: 68082 2RS - inside of freehub body (25x37x7) 609 2RS - outside of freehub body (9x24x7) 6903 2RS - non-drive side of hub shell (17x30x7) 608 2RS - drive side of hub shell (8x22x7) This wheel had the original FTS Freehub body. The second generation had the same bearings but 68082 was replaced with a delrin bushing. |
