Threadless stems for neo-retro build?
Anyone have suggestions for threadless stems that look good on narrow-tubed steel bikes? I really like the specialized s-works stem, but it unfortunately only comes in black.
Most of the silver options look too "chunky", even things like the ritchey classic or Thomson. Thoughts on silver options? |

If you want a -17°, the Hunter Cycles stem is perfect... just repaint it. If you can deal with a -10° instead of a -17°, I second the Nitto SimWorks.

I recently put a Velo Orange "Tall Stack Stem" on a steel bike I'm building up and it definitely has a quill stem vibe. I think it looks pretty cool. Depending on your needs it could work.

Whilst I love their (Simworks) stems I find them overpriced, I prefer to buy Nitto stems direct form Japan.

I just put a classic on my steel bike, 1in headtube too and I think looks pretty good, does not look chunky to me. I did try some that looks wrong (whiskey silver stem for example). |

no model in particular. but You might wsnt to narroe the search for the 1 inch threadless stems. They might be slimmer than the 1 1/8 versions. That is if you have a 1 inch steerer.
I have some silver IRO stems as well. Usually minimal labeling. Last edited by bambam; 01-25-2023 at 09:35 AM. |
